Comments 4 I’m a Pacific Rim fanboy. I’ll outright admit that. Despite knowing that Pacific Rim: The Video Game is, I was still crazy hyped for it, ever since I first saw footage of it. For me, just having a video game where you can play as a Jaeger beating the stuffing out of a Kaiju is enough for a day-one purchase.

The company also decided against running PlayStation Experience this year.

Announced mere days before its surprise release on June 11th, , Tekken Revolution is a PS3-exclusive, “free to play” downloadable title. Being a free game, Tekken Revolution has an interestingly different setup than your typical console fighting game. Revolution is built around a credits system, similar to a smart phone game, or even how you’d put a quarter into an arcade machine. There are several different types of credits: For players that aren’t patient enough to wait for new credits to become available once they run out, “Premium Coins” can also be purchased from the PS Store which can be used in any mode.

This “experimental” format for a fighting game is definitely interesting With these updates, it seems like Namco is aiming to recreate something similar to the classic “time release” system used in past arcade versions of Tekken back in the day, which no doubt keeps the game fresh and exciting over a long period of time. While Revolution is completely free to play, alternate costumes and “premium” special move effects are available as paid DLC.

On the bright side of things, the premium effects actually look pretty damn awesome in motion and are impressively unique to each character! Also, these effects definitely seem like a “warm-up” for what’s to come in Tekken X Street Fighter.

Tekken Revolution is a free-to-play fighting game developed and published by Namco and available exclusively on the Playstation 3. Tekken director, Katsuhiro Harada has claimed that he would port the game to the Playstation Vita if the download numbers were high enough for the console.

Jan 22,  · TL;DR: Tekken is stuck in the past and nothing is being done to improve it ala Call of Duty until Tekken Revolution. Casuals need a compelling reason to stay in the game and have fun like other competitive games that cater to both sides like Dota 2 for the community to ing System: PS3.

The release of the arcade version of the game in Japan was originally planned for summer , but due to complications derived from the Great East Japan earthquake , the arcade release was postponed until Autumn It features a number of new items and customization options. It also gives the game a balance update from characters and items. It was released to Japanese arcades on March 27, and the console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is based on this arcade version.

There is also a Pair Play mode, which allows four players to fight simultaneously in pairs of two, much like the “Scramble Mode” in Street Fighter X Tekken. Rage gives characters more damage per hit when their vitality is below a certain point. Once activated, a reddish energy aura appears around the character, and their health bar starts to flicker in red. The Netsu Power appears when an on-screen character gets attacked a certain amount of times and the off-screen character’s lifebar flashes.

If the on-screen character tags out while the off-screen character’s lifebar is flashing, the tagged character becomes slightly stronger.

Arcade Edition as a secret boss and a playable character. Oni is in fact Akuma, who has become one with the Satsui no Hado entirely. He has dark blue skin, glowing yellow-red eyes and glowing, spiky shoulder-length hair, akin to the Super Saiyan of the Dragon Ball series. He also gains fangs and short protrusions on his forehead, resembling growing horns. The top half of his gi has been blown off by the amount of dark ki he emanates, showing off his musculature; the prayer beads that were once around his neck now float about disconnected around his body.

Antagonists have many potential on-screen relationships — white-hot hatred, deep-seated desire for revenge, well-concealed sexual attraction, or bitter contempt — but one of the rarest and most satisfying is not hostility at all, but friendship.

Castlevania The Skeleton form in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is clumsy, can be destroyed in one hit 0 Defense, which in that game means any attack deals infinite damage , and throws not-very-effective little bones as its attack It’s tricky to use, but highly effective if done properly, most notably against bosses. The same is true of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness featured a secret character named Pumpkin.

In LoI, Pumpkin becomes playable after beating the game as Joachim:

Tekken Revolution

Edit Tekken Revolution is built around the previously released Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 6, directly porting numerous assets from both games to make up the majority of its content. The Bound system, first introduced in Tekken 6 to increase Juggles and help make the game more accessible, has been removed, tuning down the combo potential of the majority of the cast as they can no longer reliably ground-bounce them with certain moves like they used to.

Aside from these two previous Tekken concepts, the basic gameplay of the previous year’s Tag Tournament 2 release is mostly unchanged, with two new mechanics being introduced for Revolution- Critical Arts and Special Arts, attacks with unique properties that can be enhanced with purchasable “Premium Effects” which provide frames of invincibility, have a higher chance of dealing critical damage, and in some cases, are unblockable.

Introduced specifically for Revolution is an RPG inspired character leveling system- as players complete matches in Arcade mode and online, they earn experience points and G.

Wii U under way, the next generation of fighting games has already begun. Still, it seems quite empty and hollow without a few other games, ones that may not come around for a few more years. I’d like to expand on these titles. Mortal Kombat 10 Ideal Release Date: Fall , Spring Likely Release Date: Spring The starting point for me, Mortal Kombat 10 or Mortal Kombat 2, for those counting MK as a reboot is the fighting game I am most looking forward to.

However, it is also the game that is likely to be released last out of all the games I’ve listed. My reason for believing this is in regard to Netherrealm Studios being a growing company, eager to expand beyond the Mortal Kombat franchise. Tekken 7 Ideal Release Date: Fall Likely Release Date: Fall , This is a game I think should have been released a long time ago. However, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was released instead, but I’ll admit it makes a good stall. Nevertheless, I am itching to see a new Tekken with new characters, and possibly Sebastian with his own fighting style.

Unfortunately, due to the campaign for Tekken Revolution still being in existence, and Tekken X Street Fighter possibly still in development, I doubt the game will be released anytime this year.

The series became popular enough to spawn an anime series, as well as a few video game titles that appeared on the Super Famicom, original PlayStation, Dreamcast, and PlayStation 2. Despite the quirkiness and over-the-top presentation of the entire anime, the series became popular enough to warrant the creation of another game for the PlayStation 3. You have your story mode that takes many elements from the anime, arcade mode to get into the fighting without much fluff, online and offline versus, as well as other niche modes and unlockables to keep fans of the series happy for a while.

What is immediately noticeable is the presentation All-Star Battle has no shame in taking to the extreme. Menus, characters, and stages are bright and colorful even in the darkest sections or areas. There is a subtle ink style to the character models, stages, and effects that give a very manga-like presentation, which also has a similar feel to the same style seen in a game like Street Fighter 4.

The fighting itself is very fast paced and can be deeply explored by executing combos and special moves in the heat of battle. This sometimes causes some unbalance in the matchups between characters that are unlocked from playing through the Story Mode, as some fighters have more moves and options to launch attacks than others.

And while competitively this can raise some eyebrows, those just looking for a casual fun time will indulge themselves in the ease to adopt controls and flashy move sets. Most of the main issues with All-Star Battle come in the form of smaller problems that eventually build up the more you play the game. At first glance this seems like a mundane issue, but the game continuously reminds you to exit out to the online store and download the data, yet surprisingly it continues to do so even after you download everything necessary to continue onward.

The big downer here is that a lot of the story is glanced over and lost in favor of jumping into the action, as well as overly repetitive fights that have players fighting the same character multiple times consecutively. Most games in the genre based on anime series put a lot of effort into replicating events from the anime, both in cutscenes and during gameplay. All-Star Battle completely drops this and instead limits story elements to small text sequences with some voice-over sections.

To rectify this situation, and introduce new players to Tekken, this newest entry includes a robust 3-hour single-player campaign. It focuses on the global war between the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation, led by members of the Mishima family. The large focus on the Mishima family—namely Jin, Kazuya, Heihachi, and Kazumi—does have one drawback, though.

On the bright side, many of these clips are amusing, with newcomer pop sensation Lucky Chloe being my personal favourite.

SHARE Although studying creativity is considered a legitimate scientific discipline nowadays, it is still a very young one. In the early s, a psychologist named J. Guilford was one of the first academic researchers who dared to conduct a study of creativity. He challenged research subjects to connect all nine dots using just four straight lines without lifting their pencils from the page. Today many people are familiar with this puzzle and its solution.

In the s, however, very few were even aware of its existence, even though it had been around for almost a century. If you have tried solving this puzzle, you can confirm that your first attempts usually involve sketching lines inside the imaginary square. The correct solution, however, requires you to draw lines that extend beyond the area defined by the dots. Only 20 percent managed to break out of the illusory confinement and continue their lines in the white space surrounding the dots.

The symmetry, the beautiful simplicity of the solution, and the fact that 80 percent of the participants were effectively blinded by the boundaries of the square led Guilford and the readers of his books to leap to the sweeping conclusion that creativity requires you to go outside the box. The idea went viral via s-era media and word of mouth, of course. Overnight, it seemed that creativity gurus everywhere were teaching managers how to think outside the box.
